1.6 Lightning current components for test purposes

The basic lightning current curves and the possible components of upward and downward flashes are shown in figures 1.2.7 and 1.2.8.

The total lightning current can be broken down into individual lightning current components 

• First positive short stroke
• First negative short stroke
• Subsequent short stroke
• Long stroke
