5.1.3 Pre-selection

The introduction of the national annex NA to DIN EN IEC 62305-1 in Germany simplifies the selection of the lightning protection class. The determination is made normatively based on the selection of the structure/technical facility, whereby a corresponding lightning protection class is recommended.
These specifications are implemented in DEHNrisk. The first step is to select the structure or technical facility (Figure 5.1.3.1); then the lightning protection class recommended in the national annex and other relevant information and references are provided (Figure 5.1.3.2).
According to the national annex NA of DIN EN IEC 62305-1 no additional risk analysis is required in these cases. It should be noted that other regulations or contractual agreements may still require a risk analysis. Optionally, a detailed risk analysis can be carried out at a later stage, whereby the previously determined lightning protection class is automatically adopted as the minimum requirement.
Once the recommended lightning protection class has been determined, you can either generate detailed documentation of the recommended lightning protection measures directly (via 'Print') (Figure 5.1.3.3 ) or proceed immediately with a detailed risk analysis.
