5.1 Risk management with DEHNrisk

Risk analysis is an essential element in the standard-compliant planning of lightning protection systems. DEHNrisk (Figure 5.1.1) is a Web-based tool that enables systematic evaluation of risks resulting from lightning exposure – from initial risk assessment to selection of suitable protective measures (Chapter 3.3).
DEHNrisk is based on the international standard IEC 62305-2:2024. National versions, such as DIN EN IEC 62305-2 (Germany) or BS EN IEC 62305-2 (United Kingdom), are gradually being integrated. This means that the application can be used for both international and specific national requirements. Information on the available versions of the standards can be found on the DEHNrisk website.
The informative annexes D (P_SPD evaluation) and E (detailed investigation of additional losses L_E in connection with the surrounding environment) are currently not used in DEHNrisk.
