5.1.5 Zones

There are two options available for risk analysis: the structure can be considered either as a single risk zone or divided into several zones. The risk analysis is carried out for each zone and compared with the tolerable risks RT and FT respectively.

Structure with one zone
If the entire structure is considered a single risk zone, all input values and protective measures apply to the entire building. This approach is particularly common in smaller buildings or buildings with uniform functions. As no distinction is drawn according to risk potential, all protective measures must be applied to the entire structure. This can lead to increased protection measures and correspondingly higher costs, as less vulnerable areas must also be protected.
