3.3.4 Probabilities of damage

In case of a direct lightning strike to a structure (S1):
P_AD        Electric shock to people caused by direct lightning strikes.
P_AT        Electric shock to people due to touch and step voltages.
P_B        Physical effects; i.e. fire, explosion, mechanical and chemical effects.
P_C        Failure of electrical/electronic systems.

In case of a lightning strike to the ground near a structure (S2):
P_M        Failure of electrical/electronic systems.

In case of a direct lightning strike to an incoming line (S3):

P_U        Electric shock to people due to touch voltages.
P_V        Physical effects; i.e. fire, explosion, mechanical and chemical effects.
P_W        Failure of electrical/electronic systems.

When lightning strikes the ground next to an installed supply line (S4):
P_Z        Failure of electrical/electronic systems.
