5.2.7.1 Graphical representation of the separation distance
The visual presentation of technical calculations plays a crucial role in the planning and validation of lightning protection systems. In DEHNplan, the calculated separation distance is not only output as a numerical value, but also visualised in a graphical representation. This representation helps planning engineers and experts to quickly identify critical areas and to verify the protective effect in a comprehensible manner.
Dimensional and colour representation
The separation distance is displayed graphically in a multidimensional form and depends on the respective environment. DEHNplan distinguishes between the following material categories:
- Air (L)
Separation distances in air are typically highlighted in colour, e.g. in blue or cyan. - Solid material (F)
For solid building materials such as concrete or masonry, the separation distance is typically displayed in red or orange to indicate proximity to conductive structures. - Glass-fibre reinforced plastic (GRP)
Special separation distances apply to GRP, which lie between air and solid material. This is usually displayed in neutral colours such as grey or green.
